New Year

2008!

It came in quietly for us this year. Nothing too exciting. Just another day.

Yet, as I reflect on this first day of the new year I wonder what lies ahead. 2007 was a good year but not much different from any other. Except for my trip to Singapore. That was quite exciting and something I'd never done before.

I wonder what God has in store for this next year. More of the same or something entirely new?

I do have new year resolutions. Again, nothing too excited or very unique. But I decided I needed to start the year with a plan. Plans are good, but they merely guide me so I don't lose my way. They are not predictors of my future as I like to have the flexibility to change them as God brings surprises my way.

My biggest and perhaps the best new year's resolution for 2008 is to expectantly wait for the Lord and to watch for the opportunities He brings my way. Then, when I do notice them, to act on them. With this in mind I must prayerfully ask for His wisdom so I don't miss opportunities as they come my way.
